Transaction Expenses

Payment of transactional expenses in Florida real estate transactions is subject to negotiation, but custom governs in most counties.  The transactional expenses include the following:  Documentary stamps on the deed (.007 of the sale price);  Title insurance and associated fees (usually slightly less than the documentary stamps);  those two items are normally paid for by the seller in Lee County, Florida.  In other counties, the seller may pay for an abstract of title and the buyer pay for examination by an attorney or title insurance or both.  The seller normally pays all brokerage fees.
